Here in New Haven, the culinary scene runs rich and boasts something for everyone to indulge in – from authentic Spanish tapas to arguably some of the best slices of pizza in the nation. Hungry for more? Keep reading to get a taste of our ultimate guide on how-to “restaurant week” like a pro at New Haven Restaurant Week this fall.
Early Bird Gets The Deal
It’s no secret that New Haven Restaurant Week is one of the city’s most highly anticipated events of the year. With restaurants expected to book up fast, we recommend planning ahead by making reservations for lunch and dinner as early as possible.
Don’t Be a Table Hog
Let’s be real – no one likes a table hog. If you need to cancel or change reservations, please do so as early as possible so the restaurant can re-book the table.
Take a Lunch Break
In the need for change? Switch up your daily lunch break routine by trying one of the 14 participating restaurants offering two-course lunch options for $25. Visit our website infonewhaven.com to see the full list of restaurants featuring special lunch options that you won’t want to miss.
Weeknights Are The New Friday
Haven’t you heard? Weeknights are the new Friday. If you are unable to secure a table on Friday or Saturday night, we suggest considering dining on a weekday as an exciting experience to look forward to in the middle of the work week.
Take a Leap of Faith
Be adventurous and take a leap of faith. If you’re unable to secure a restaurant of your choice, New Haven Restaurant Week is the perfect opportunity to experiment and indulge in something new. Try new cultural cuisines from around the world – from Spanish tapas and nuevo Latino fusion to Belgium classics and traditional Cuban dishes.
Eat, See, and Do
After indulging in New Haven’s culinary scene, you can also explore other attractions and happenings in downtown this fall. Following an afternoon lunch, feed your art history appetite by wandering the galleries at Yale University Art Gallery and Yale Center for British Art. Or you can also opt to take a stroll along the streets of downtown and hop into one of the many local boutiques for some retail therapy. As a perfect complement to dinner, catch a show like My Fair Lady at The Shubert from October 19 – 22 or Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf at Yale Repertory Theatre running through October 29.
Show Your Servers Some Love
Tax and gratuity are not included in the prix fixe price. Please be sure to show your appreciation for good service by tipping generously. What can we say, it’s good karma.
Ready, Set, Secure Your Spot
The Shops at Yale will offer free 2-hour parking with a same-day purchase of $50 or more from participating restaurants at lots located at 255 Crown Street (behind Pacifico and South Bay) and 56 Broadway (across from J.Crew).
Park New Haven will offer a $5 parking rate during lunch in the Crown Street and Temple Street Garages. The offer is applicable October 16 – 29 between 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Get Social
Let your inner foodie flourish and show the local restaurants some extra love on social media. Snap a photo of your favorite dishes, tag the restaurant, and use the hashtag #NHVeats. Who doesn’t love a good ‘foodstagram’ anyway?
