With more than 150 events in one festival, the International Festival of Arts and Ideas has returned to the Elm City in grand fashion. Featuring a wide array of completely free and ticketed events for visitors and locals, the 2024 festival’s theme reads, “Move With Us.”  The festival remains a hugely popular summer event for New Haven families, featuring countless performances and activities open to all ages. Read on to learn about three completely free, family-friendly events happening in downtown this June.

Anne Cubberly’s Giant Puppets

From June 14-29, artist Anne Cubberly’s Giant Puppets will roam the Green and Downtown New Haven. The colossal, colorful creations reflect the essence and boundless spirit of our city and its residents. 

New Haven Symphony Orchestra Family Concert

On June 18, the New Haven Symphony Orchestra will bring the jazz of New Orleans to the New Haven Green. Interactive and fun for the whole family, this interactive concert will feature a brass quintet and the chance to parade as neighbors. 

The Red Trouser Show

From June 22-23, The Red Trouser Show will bring circus stunts, precision acrobatics, and comedy to the Green. David Graham and Tobin Renwick, lifelong friends since the 1st grade and Circus Smirkus alumni, bring two decades of world-traveling expertise to their production. With non-stop action and heart-pounding excitement, you’ll be laughing and cheering from start to finish.
