MINIPNG, Downtown’s premiere destination for all things interesting, has spent its first year of business outfitting New Haven locals with carefully curated vintage clothing and hand-painted signature artwork. This month, we sat down with the Owner of MINIPNG, Eiress Hammond, who has earned the title of “The Vivienne Westwood of New Haven,” to discuss all things vintage and her experience as a Downtown business owner.
On the origins of MINIPNG: “In 2019, I was studying pre-law at Ohio State University, and I felt like the creative side of me was being stifled. I had always wanted to pursue fashion but had been told the field would be too difficult to succeed in. I moved back home after my first semester and started making clothing, selling it online for fun and some extra money. My designs went viral, and I took a step back from college, pivoting to focus on what I loved.”
On MINIPNG’s most popular item: “Our most popular item is the cat ear hats, knit from 100% mohair and brushed to create a fuzzy look. I started making these in February of 2023!”
On Spring in New Haven: “It’s so wonderful to start outdoor events again. We love seeing everyone in the community come together, it’s so fulfilling and heartwarming. New Haven has so much to offer and is ever-growing! There’s a lot to explore! If you’re ever looking for something, don’t hesitate to ask around!”
Want to check out MINIPNG’s collections for yourself? On March 30th, MINIPNG, Thrift 2 Death, and Forgotten Flea will shut down Audubon Street for a community-wide shopping event. There will be 35 vendors selling exclusive finds, plus some furry friends from the New Haven Animal Shelter. The event will run from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
