Each summer, our outdoor haven comes alive, and June is only the beginning. Across New Haven’s more than 2,000 acres of park space, neighbors and summer visitors will mix and mingle on the greens, sharing stories, sips, and sunshine. Your park day options include, but are not limited to…

East Rock Park: Known for its trails and unmatched views of the Long Island Sound, East Rock Park is the perfect place to bike, jog, and hike. Plus, the park is home to a number of canoes and rowboats, permitted on Mill River for fishing and crabbing.

Edgewood Park: Skateboarders, tennis players, and dog parents alike flock to Edgewood Park on sunny days to hike, play, canoe, and more. Let your pup off-leash in the park’s dog run, ignite your kids’ imaginations on the park’s ship-shaped playscape, follow the park’s guided loop trail, or bring your wheels to the skate park for skateboarding and in-line skating.

Lighthouse Point Park: Sure, this park has a lighthouse. But Lighthouse Point is also home to a fishing pier and public boat launch for skilled anglers, a bird sanctuary, and one of the only remaining antique carousels in the country – one of less than 100 in use. Residents, you park for free. Visitors gain entry at $25 per vehicle, or $100 for an unlimited season pass.
