Theatre is a cultural pillar of the city of New Haven, and our stages are coming alive this month. October marks the beginning of our city\u2019s performance season, with top talent taking to the stages of the <\/span>Yale Repertory Theatre<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>the Shubert<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>Long Wharf Theater<\/span><\/a>, among others. The lights are lowering, so we\u2019ll keep this quick. Here is every show you need to see this season in New Haven.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s playing at the Yale Rep? <\/b>Originals and debuts galore.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Falcon Girls<\/span><\/i><\/a>,<\/span><\/i> October 10 – November 2: The Yale Rep is honored to host the world premiere of this new show by Hilary Bettis. Based on a true story, Falcon Girls takes place in Falcon, Colorado circa 1990 and follows six teen girls on the FFA horse judging team, fighting to make it to nationals. It\u2019s funny, it’s nostalgic, and it\u2019s playing right here in New Haven.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Macbeth in Stride<\/span><\/i><\/a>,<\/span><\/i> December 5-14: This reimagined performance of Shakespeare\u2019s Macbeth follows \u201can ambitious Black woman, told through her own contemporary perspective of femininity, desire, and power with a capital P.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Tina: The Tina Turner Musical<\/span><\/i><\/a>, October 24-27: TINA: The Tina Turner Musical is the triumphant story of the Queen of Rock n\u2019 Roll\u2019s journey against all odds to become one of the most beloved artists of all time, set to the pulse-pounding soundtrack of her most popular hits.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dear Evan Hansen<\/span><\/i><\/a>, November 22-24: Declared \u201cone of the most remarkable shows in musical theater history\u201d by <\/span>The Washington Post<\/span><\/i>, Dear Evan Hansen is the first contemporary musical about connection in the digital age.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Christmas Carol<\/span><\/a>, December 7 -8: This classic Charles Dickens tale shares the journey of miserly Ebenezer Scrooge while he discovers the true meaning of Christmas through warmth, goodwill, and musical memories of the holiday season.<\/span><\/p>\n
